Our Review:

Whilst the name may not immediately identify it as an adult dating site, 121247.com sets out to help you find, flirt and meet sexy adults. It features a great looking site that’s well set out and easy to use and it also has a nice friendly feel. However, what it lacks is members, which may compromise your chances of hooking up.

Unlike a lot of other dating sites, 121247.com details males and females separately in terms of numbers, as typically there are often far more guys than girls. At the time of this review there were 209,655 profiles listed but a mere 89 online. In contrast, you could find 3,251,419 male profiles, with 4,954 online, which is an improvement but still relatively poor. Members come from the UK.

The classic black profiles do look really good and you’ll enjoy browsing. The profiles are detailed and give you all the basic information that you need first (name, age, location, distance from you) as well as physical characteristics, ‘about me blurb’, dating preferences and more. A good deal of profiles have explicit photos. You’ll also find a fair number of inactive or fake profiles.

Free members can join and create a profile (including video profile) as well as browse other member profiles using the quick search tool (gender, age, location/distance). Free members can also use the ‘Encounters’ feature, which presents a slideshow of member photos for you to click the appropriate button based on whether you would like to meet them (yes/no/maybe). If you both click yes then you’re matched. 

The fact that you can’t openly communicate with other members otherwise is the best reason for upgrading, though it’s not the cheapest site you’ll find. Think very carefully before you commit because of the small membership base and lack of online activity. If you do upgrade you can make substantial savings by taking out a longer term membership rather than renewing monthly (e.g. save 44% if you join for 6 months). For a small additional fee, bolt-ons can be purchased to give you priority listing in searches and notifications when your messages are read. Premium members get unlimited email access and winks (automated icebreakers that can be sent at the click of a button) as well as being able to create a list of your favourite profiles. Sadly there aren’t any live chat features such as chat rooms or IM chat, which is a glaring omission for those who enjoy meeting others online.

In addition to the quick search (see above), premium members get to use the custom search option, which includes a wider range of criteria covering physical characteristics, sexual preferences and lifestyle and habits. You can also sort your results by latest joined, name, age, last online (helps screen out inactive profiles) and more. It’s also possible to filter out profiles lacking photos. Finally, one-click tab searches list new members and profiles with new photos or videos. There’s no FAQs section, just a brief membership guide, so it’s likely that you’ll have to rely on email support should you have any questions.

121247.com offers quite a lot in terms of features but the lack of chat rooms and IM chat is bound to put plenty of people off. Such omissions are compounded by the low membership rates and online activity, which all points to a potential lack of bang for your buck.
