If you haven't heard of Craigslist we'd be surprised, but you may not be aware that it includes a personals section for adult dating. Craigslist is the web's biggest local listings site which brings together localised advertisements in an easily searchable and navigable way; a bit like the ads section in your local newspaper, only online. It seems quite a lot of people are now using it just like the personals section in a local newspaper too which means you have a good chance of finding a date in your local area.

Since Craigslist isn't a fully blown adult dating site there is no need to create a profile for yourself and go through the tedious process of filling out field after field of personal information. Instead, you just write an ad telling people what you are looking for, post it and wait for the replies to flood in. It's best to include some information about yourself in the ad though; otherwise you might find no one gets in touch. It's also a good idea to be polite, check your spelling and try to use a bit of humour if you want to attract the best responses.

There are different sub-sections within the personals section of Craigslist and you should tailor your ad and post it in the most appropriate one. The three main sections are:s people looking for friends, people looking for relationships and people looking for casual encounters. Probably for adult dating the casual encounters category is the best one to go for, although you may have some luck in the relationships category. Each sub-section is split further into sections for 'man wants to meet woman' or 'woman wants to meet woman' etc so make sure you check where you are posting and don't post in the wrong category!

It's possible to search through the ads in any category by keyword, but that's about it. The best way to go about trying to find a date is to browse the ads because they are ordered by date posted which means you won't accidentally email someone who posted their ad six months ago. When you are ready to get in touch it's simply a case of filling out a form with whatever you want to say and clicking the send button. An email will be sent to the poster containing any contact details you want to make available. This way the poster's contact details are kept private unless they choose to reply to someone.

Craigslist is a different way of trying to find an adult date, but one that can often pay off. Admittedly we have heard more success stories of people making friends or having relationships through the site, but if that can be successful we are sure adult dating can be too. You don't get all the fancy profile and web cam features you do with full blown adult dating sites, but if you are prepared to put in a bit of effort Craigslist could work out very well for you.
