Our Review:

At the time of this review there were several hundred thousand members registered on iHookup.com, though such information is difficult to come by, which is why no exact figure is given. When we checked by there were just a couple of thousand online, which is a little disappointing and could compromise your chances of meeting people.

Taking a look at profiles, most come from the USA and are looking for casual encounters. You’ll find plenty of saucy photos on iHookup.com, as well as fairly standard profile pictures. It’s free to sign up and you’ll need a valid email address to complete the registration procedure. Free members don’t get too much; in addition to creating a profile you can browse limited profiles, send limited ‘flirts’ (automated messages that can be sent at the click of a button in order to express interest in another member) and create a favourites list.

If you like the site then maybe you’ll consider upgrading your membership, as without doing so you won’t be able to engage in any meaningful contact, which kind of defeats the point. Two types of membership are available and you’d be wise to pay the nominal fee for the 2-day trial membership to see if you like it. Silver members get to send 50 emails per day and unlimited flirts. Emails can be stored for 30 days and there’s email support within 72 hours. You’ll also receive notification of compatible matches by email. Meanwhile, Gold members get priority compatible matching (profiles are advertised above Silver members), 200 emails per day, message storage for 1 year and priority customer support (within 24 hours). Both get a ‘hook up guarantee’; if you don’t get a date in 3 months you another 3 months free. Unfortunately there aren’t any chat rooms, but there are plenty of other contact features to keep you occupied.

With reference to search tools, the standard search lets you specify criteria including location, distance, age range, relationship status, body type and relationship sought (e.g. casual encounters, online fun and dating). You can also apply a filter that screens out profiles lacking photos. You can also sort your results by last online (which helps screen out inactive profiles), nearest and newest members. There’s a username search, but no advanced search option.

In case of any technical problems or membership questions, there’s a decent FAQs section on the site and email support if this doesn’t answer your query. As well as receiving priority email support, Gold members get support by phone too.

Like some other sites in this category, iHookup.com offers a good range of features and attractive membership terms but ultimately fails to generate the levels of membership and online activity that you can be sure will enhance your dating prospects.
